Oscar Pistorius has apparently found a new purpose in life and is reaching out to fellow inmates with Bible study sessions and by praying with them. The former athlete still has 5 years left to serve for the murder of Reeva Steenkamp.
Oscar Pistorius seems to have found purpose in faith. The former athlete star has 5 years left to serve for the murder of his girlfriend, the model Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius leads Bible study sessions and a prayer group in Pretoria’s Atteridgeville correctional centre. TimesLIVE reported that the athlete’s father, Henke, told The Times UK that Pistorius has found new purpose. Oscar leads the studies and is able to accommodate those who aren’t so familiar with the Bible to explain the meaning of all the verses. He (Oscar) can feel he is making a difference to others who really needed a difference to be made – to give their lives meaning, purpose and some hope. As a result, things have also improved for him.
Pistorius has been given a piece of land by the prison. It is used to grow vegetables. His father is very impressed with the vegetable garden. Oscar, being an artist, didn’t just do square blocks of vegetables, he has designed a face – the hair is certain type of veggies and the ears and mouths are something else. It’s quite incredible. Pistorius was convicted for shooting and killing his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp on Valentines Day in 2013. He has been having a tough time behind bars, as reports told of him being attacked and assaulted in prison.
Briefly.co.za reported about a month ago that Pistorius was let out of jail to attend his late grandfather’s memorial service. He is eligible for parole in 2023.
